Workgroup PDM Tech Tip: Create your PDFs with Check-in

Oftentimes in our product development process, we overlook little things that can help us to get the job done a little quicker or cut an extra step from the workflow. Well check this out: Here is something that will save our WorkGroup PDM users a step.

In the Workgroup PDM VaultAdministrator tool, there is an option that a user can set to automatically create PDFs upon drawing check-in. When selected, Workgroup PDM will generate a PDF each time a user checks in a SolidWorks drawing.

Production can rest assured that they're always working with the latest version of a part, because this PDF is overwritten each time the drawing is checked in. To access it, simply right-click the drawing in the SolidWorks task pane and choose "View Document as PDF."

Give it a try and remember: It's the little things!

We have this option turned on in our vault and it works great. What I would like to be able to do is to be able to access these PDF files so I can export them out to another directory on an adhoc basis. Is there any way of getting to these PDF files without having to run the export pdf option in Task Scheduler?
