SolidWorks World 2013 Recap

SolidWorks World is always one of my favorite times of year. It's a chance to not only see the latest and greatest technologies from SolidWorks and their partners, but also to reconnect with old friends and colleagues.

This year did not disappoint. The general sessions offered a glimpse into some very exciting ways that the SolidWorks solutions family of products is being implemented to help the RedBull Stratos team reach new record heights. Day 2 highlighted the team at FESTO and how they are creating the technology of tomorrow with inspiration from nature. And speaking of tomorrow, Day 3 showcased the amazing and brilliant ways our kids are exploring, researching, and developing rocket and robotic technologies.

As engineers continue to push design and engineering to the limits, SolidWorks strives to provide the tools to make that a reality. In fact, the theme for this year was "Design Without Limits," and no SolidWorks World would be complete without getting a glimpse of the new tools coming for 2014 on Day 3 including:

• Corner gussets for sheetmetal
• Slots for the Hole Wizard
• Mapping of circuit data directly from eCAD into SolidWorks Flow Simulation
• Augemented reality for eDrawings
